Revolut’s in-app security hub is designed to keep you in control, providing a dedicated space where you can customise 10+ security settings. Depending on how you use the account — spending, savings, and more — you can tailor these settings to match your lifestyle.
In this article, we’ll share an overview of how you can shield your Revolut account from thieves and scammers by using our security features, and making sure your savings and balances are under lock and key while using our services.
How to keep your Revolut savings secure: an overview of the features
We’ve built the tools to help you keep your savings secure. When you combine our tools with some smart habits to reduce your risk, you’re creating a fortress of money security.
Here's a quick overview of 4 best practices to follow, which we'll go into more detail on throughout the article:
- Enable Wealth Protection to add extra protection to your savings. It adds biometric checks on withdrawals over your chosen limit.
- Turn on Street Mode for extra security on-the-go — add a 1-hour delay on withdrawals over your limit when you're away from trusted locations, and stay protected from the unexpected.
- Use single-use virtual cards for more protection when shopping online. The card details refresh after each purchase, so they can't be reused.
- Review your linked devices and wallets regularly, and remove ones you don’t use.
Revolut Wealth Protection: extra security for your balances
Revolut’s Wealth Protection feature is designed to make sure you — and only you — can access your money. It adds an extra layer of biometric authentication to transfers and withdrawals of your choosing. You can set it up for your main balance, savings, investments, and more.
You can set your own daily limits — if a withdrawal or transfer exceeds these limits, you’ll need to confirm them with an extra biometric check.
What does this mean for the safety of my savings in Revolut?
Let’s go through a couple of situations that Wealth Protection can help fight against.
- Lost or stolen devices — you can report your lost or stolen device and lock your account on that device. But on the off chance a thief gets into your Revolut account, they won’t be able to transfer or withdraw money over your Wealth Protection daily limit. You are your strongest password.
- Remote access scams — if a fraudster tries to remotely access your Revolut account, they won’t be able to get past biometric authentication when transferring over your Wealth Protection limit, keeping your savings safe.
For customers who use Revolut as a primary account for savings, investments, or large balances, enabling Wealth Protection is the smartest way to limit the risk of account takeover.
How to turn on Wealth Protection:
- Go to your app and tap your profile icon in the top-left corner
- Tap Security → Wealth Protection
- You'll be able to choose which investments or balances are protected, and set your daily limit
You can securely adjust your limit and which accounts are protected whenever you need to.
Street Mode: protect your savings on-the-go
Street Mode is a new addition to our Wealth Protection feature that adds an extra layer of protection to your Revolut savings and balances when you’re exploring new places.
Once you activate Street Mode, we'll add a 1-hour delay to transfers above your limit whenever you're outside your chosen trusted locations.
This gives you critical time to log out of your account and keep your Revolut savings safe. It also protects your funds from unexpected situations where you may not feel in control.
How to activate Street Mode:
- Tap your profile icon in the top-left corner
- Select Security → Wealth Protection → Transfers
- Enable the Street Mode toggle
- Follow the steps to enable location-based protection and set up your trusted locations
You can update or remove trusted locations at any time. and we’ll always use biometric checks to make sure that you’re the one making these changes. You'll need to have Wealth Protection turned on to use Street Mode.
