How much does it cost to withdraw cash at an ATM in Mexico?
Surprises are fun, but surprise ATM fees? Not so much. Here are some common costs to keep an eye out for when you're withdrawing cash in Mexico, so you're never caught off guard again.
Dynamic currency conversion fees (DCC)
When you withdraw cash in Mexico, the ATM may ask you whether you want to pay in US Dollars rather than in Mexican Pesos. This is called dynamic currency conversion (DCC).
While it may seem handy, it means the ATM provider may charge extra fees and apply their own exchange rates, often with markups.
You'll usually get the best deal if you choose to pay in Mexican Pesos and let your us handle the exchange.
Account fees
Revolut is made to be global, so you won't be charged additional fees from us when you use your card abroad.
Your ATM withdrawal fees from us depend on your plan. For Standard users, a Revolut fee may apply.
Premium and Metal plans offer higher withdrawal limits with no Revolut fees.
A 2% fair usage fee is charged after you hit your monthly limit.
Currency exchange rates
Your home bank may add a markup to the exchange rate that they use to convert your US Dollars . This means you may end up paying more than you expect. With Revolut, you'll get competitive exchange rates, and you won't pay any additional exchange fees on weekdays, whenever you're within your plan's limits. Local banks' fees in Mexico

ATM withdrawals in Mexico FAQs
To withdraw cash from an ATM in Mexico with your Revolut card, just follow these steps:
- Open or download the Revolut app, tap the card icon in the top right on your home screen, and choose Find an ATM nearby to see the closest options in your location.
- Make sure ATM withdrawals are enabled for your card. You can do this by tapping the card icon on your home screen, selecting your card, and checking under Settings.
- Once you're at the ATM, insert your card and enter your 4-digit PIN. You can find your PIN in-app by tapping the card icon, selecting your card, and choosing View PIN.
- Enter the amount you want to withdraw, confirm your transaction, and wait for the ATM to give you your cash.
- You'll see all ATM withdrawals in-app, along with your other transactions.
Yes, there are daily and weekly withdrawal limits for your security. These limits actually change based on how long your account has been open:
- If your account has been open for less than 120 days, your daily withdrawal limit is $550 (over a rolling 24-hour period), and your weekly limit is $1050 (over a rolling 7-day period)
- Once your account has been open for 120 days or more, your limits increase to $1050 daily (rolling 24-hours) and $1750 weekly (rolling 7-days)
These are general security limits, and they're separate from any monthly no-fee allowance your Revolut plan might have.

With your Revolut card, you can make as many ATM withdrawals per month as you like, but your plan and the ATM you use determine the fees.
- Standard: a Revolut fee and a third-party ATM fee may apply
- Premium: with a higher monthly limit of up to $800, you won't pay any Revolut ATM fees within the plan's limits
- Metal: get the highest monthly withdrawal limit of up to $1,200 with no Revolut fees
Premium and Metal no-fee ATM withdrawal limits are set on a monthly basis and reset on the date you opened your account or changed your plan. You can always check your remaining allowance in-app and consider upgrading your plan for better benefits.

If your Revolut card is swallowed by an ATM, don't panic. Just follow these steps:
- Contact the ATM provider to see if they can return the card. However, if the card was compromised, you won't be able to reactivate it.
- Cancel your card and order a replacement in-app by tapping on the card icon on your home screen, going to Settings, and choosing Replace card.
- While you're waiting for your new card to arrive, create a virtual card by tapping on the card icon on your home screen, going to + Add new, and selecting Virtual card. You can start using this card right away for contactless and online payments.
- If you attempted a withdrawal before the card was swallowed, check for any pending transactions in-app. If a transaction was completed, select the payment and tap Get help to submit a chargeback request.
Sometimes, an ATM or card terminal may ask you if you want to be charged in a currency different from the one you're withdrawing money in. For example, an ATM in the UK may offer to give you cash in GBP but charge you in USD. This is what's known as dynamic currency conversion (DCC). If you accept, you may get a poor exchange rate and pay additional fees.
To make sure you're getting the best rate, choose to be charged in the local currency of the country you’re in. Otherwise, the ATM provider can apply their own exchange rate and charge an extra fee.
