How to know it’s really Revolut calling
Sigurnost · 10. ožujka 2026.Team Revolut
Impersonation scams are on the rise, and fraudsters are evolving all the time. To ensure your Revolut scam protection is as tight as possible, you need to know who's actually on the other end of the line. When your phone rings, how can you be sure it’s really us? We’ve got a simple rule that’ll keep you one step ahead:
If it’s not in the app, it’s not us
We’ll only ever call you through our secure app, and we'll usually arrange to do so through our in-app chat first. If someone calls you out of the blue, claiming to be from Revolut, and it hasn't been confirmed or scheduled ahead of time, it’s a scam. No exceptions.
Even better, we’ve now added an extra layer of security to phone calls. Our live in-app banner confirms if we’re on the phone with you. Just open the Revolut app if you’re on a call, and you’ll see a banner appear at the top of your screen telling you if it’s us, or not.
If the banner says we’re not talking to you, and the person says they’re from Revolut, hang up immediately and tap the banner to tell our team what happened.
Why only the app?
We want to stop fraud in its tracks so we can protect what’s yours, and this means staying one step ahead. Using the app for calls means you can always trust it’s us. You'll be securely authenticated before we even start the conversation, giving fraudsters no room to manoeuvre, and giving you more peace of mind.
And if you’re ever unsure, check the live banner in-app to be completely certain.
How does it work?
Our in-app calling feature helps you instantly verify whether the person on the other end is genuinely us, or a scammer. It’s a simple but effective way to protect you from fraud.
Your security is our priority. So remember: if it’s not in the app, it’s not us. And if you ever receive a phone call from someone saying they’re from Revolut, check the in-app banner to make sure. Stay sharp, stay secure, and always report anything suspicious.
How to stay safe: our top tips
Staying secure is about more than just tech. It's about staying alert:
- Be cautious: if a call's not planned and is about your money, stay on your guard, and check the app to see if it’s us
- Trust the app: always use the app as the main way to see if we're really talking to you
- Never share your PIN: we'll never ask for your PIN, password, or any codes over the phone
- Don't be rushed: scammers want you to act fast. Take your time and check everything
- Tell us about it: if you think you've been targeted by a scam, tell us through the in-app chat right away. You can also find help on our fraud and scam page.
What are impersonation scams and how do I spot them?
In a typical scam attempt targeting your Revolut account, fraudsters use direct impersonation, 'spoofing' technology, or AI voice cloning to mimic official representatives.
They create a fake sense of urgency to pressure you into sharing security codes or moving your money. Here is how to stay sharp and protect your balance.
Protecting your Revolut account: 3 common impersonation scams
Scam type | How it works | What to watch out for |
‘Safe account’ trick | Scammers claim your current account is compromised and there have been some suspicious transfer activities detected instructing you to move your money to a 'new, secure account'. | Any request to move money to protect it. Banks will never ask you to transfer money between accounts to keep it safe. |
Security code trap | Fraudsters try to log into your account and call you pretending to be a fraud agent. They may ask for a verification code sent to your phone or pressure you to approve a login request directly in your app. | Never share a One-Time Passcode (OTP) or confirm an in-app approval for a caller. These are for your use only, and we'll never ask you to share or authorise them over the phone. |
Law enforcement impersonation | Criminals pose as police or tax officials, claiming your account is linked to a crime and demanding a 'fine' or 'bond' payment. | Callers who threaten legal action or arrest and insist that the only way to clear your name is by making a payment over the phone. |
To make things crystal clear, here’s what we'll never ask you to do during a call:
- Send money to a ‘safe account’ or any other account
- Make a payment for any reason
- Ignore fraud or payment warnings
- Share your PIN or personal details
If you hear any of these red flags, it’s likely a scam. Hang up and report it.
